However, his leadership has been notable, not just because he embodied the highest standards of professional expertise, but also because he never shied away from making difficult decisions and taking good cognizance of economic realities. When Public Bank as a new bank, it faced many challenges. With his leadership and charisma, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Teh Hong Piow was not the one who would turn down easily. The following year, Public Bank was successfully listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange with a paid-up capital of RM16 million, an amount that lead to a record-breaking.

His unique style of discipline with care, both in residence and work, lead to an effective leadership style that allows him not only to lead, but nurtures his staff to be the most excellent as they can be. Towards sustaining the success of Public Bank, he really concern about his staffs which he considers as an asset in the organization, since teamwork and team unity are essential in ensuring the productivity and performances of Public Bank. The approach set by him drive his staffs to work with efficient and more productivity towards achieving success. He also organizes the ceremony in order to fulfill his vision to know his staffs even better, the only chance that he has ti gather them, as he can be closer to their heart and lessen the gap.

•  Persist and Hardworking

Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow believe that persist and hardworking is important in building his career, by the way knowledge and experience also rival to become a success person. He never gives up improving himself although he has founded Public Bank Berhad when he was young. He encourages his management and staffs to constantly move forward and gives them support to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. Hence, his staffs are motivated to take on the responsibility to endlessly learn and develop their skills and they can be constantly updated with the most recent banking skills and techniques to enable them to serve customers better. He stressed that the need for everyone to be all set to learn new skills, to ensure that they well-prepared themselves with the speed and efficiency to compete. It is part of his belief that when stop learning, they stop leading. His  hard life before not only influenced his perception towards learning, but it's also become the basis for his countless successes in life.
